Zol-var 4 mg

What is Zol-var?
is a solution for infusion that contains the active substance zoledronic acid. Each ampoule contains 4 mg Zoledronic acid in 5 ml.
Indications:
hypercalcemia of malignancy, multiple myeloma, bone metastases from solid tumors, Paget’s disease, prevention and treatment of osteoporosis.
Dosing:
The dose of medication and the duration of treatment should be determined by the physician. Ask your doctor if you want to know more about the dose of Zol-var Injection you receive.

Pregnancy and lactation:
Due to risk of fetal harm, Zol-var is contraindicated during pregnancy. Verify pregnancy status of females of reproductive potential prior to initiation of therapy. It is recommended that females of reproductive potential to use effective contraception during and after therapy.
Due to risk of infant exposure and adverse events, Zol-var is contraindicated during lactation.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to zoledronic acid or other bisphosphonates, or any component of the formulation; uncorrected hypocalcemia at the time of infusion; Use in patients with CrCl <35 mL/minute and use in patients with evidence of acute renal impairment.
Warnings and precautions:
Atypical femur fractures (AFF) have been reported with this medication.
osteonecrosis of the jaw (MRONJ), has been reported in patients receiving bisphosphonates. Prior to initiation of therapy, dental exam and preventive dentistry is recommended for patients at risk for osteonecrosis. Invasive dental procedures should be avoided during therapy.
Assess renal function before and after treatment. Dose adjustment based on the CrCl in patients with kidney disorders is necessary.
Influenza-like reactions have been reported, most commonly after the first dose occurring at 12 to 48 hours after the first infusion, and may include fever, nausea and/or vomiting, myalgia, and bone pain; treatment with standard antipyretic therapy is recommended.
This medication May cause hypocalcemia. Hypocalcemia must be corrected before initiation of therapy; adequately supplement patients with calcium and vitamin D; monitor serum calcium closely with concomitant administration of other drugs known to cause hypocalcemia to avoid severe or life-threatening hypocalcemia.

Interactions:
Aminoglycosides, Angiogenesis Inhibitors, Calcitonin, Deferasirox, Inhibitors of the Proton Pump, Loop Diuretics, Nonsteroidal Anti-Inflammatory Agents, Thalidomide.
Administration:
Zol-var should be diluted in 100 mL of sterile 0.9% Sodium Chloride, or 5% Dextrose, following proper aseptic technique, and administered to the patient by intravenous infusion. It is recommended to infusion the medication intravenously over at least 15 minutes.
Zol-var must not be mixed with calcium or other divalent cation-containing infusion solutions, such as Lactated Ringer’s solution, and should be administered in a line separate from all other drugs.
Prior to injection, check the solution for colorlessness, transparency, and the absence of foreign particles.
Storage:
Store below 30ֹ C.
