Vario-mitexan 400mg/4 ml
What is Vario-mitexan?
is a solution for IV injection or IV infusion that contains the active substance mesna. Each ampoule contains 400 mg mesna in 4 ml.
Indications:
Vario-mitexan is a protective agent which is used to prevent damage to your bladder and urinary system, that may be caused by ifosfamide or cyclophosphamide.
Dosing:
The dose of medication and the duration of treatment should be determined by the physician. Ask your doctor if you want to know more about the dose of Vario-mitexan Injection you receive.
Pregnancy and lactation:
Use is contraindicated during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Contraindications:
Known hypersensitivity to mesna or any component of the formulation.
In case of acute liver and kidney diseases, consult your doctor about taking this medicine
Warnings and precautions:
If you see blood in your urine, tell your doctor immediately. Morning urine sample should be evaluated to check for bleeding.
Vario-mitexane may interfere with blood glucose and uric acid tests.
It is important to be well hydrated and to urinate frequently while receiving Vario-mitexane. Monitor urine output and hydration status.
Interactions:
Avoid concomitant use of variomethoxane with cisplatin and carboplatin due to the physicochemical incompatibility of these drugs with each other.
Side effects:
Headache, fatigue, anxiety, dizziness, vertigo, fever, insomnia, pain, drowsiness, hypotension, chest pain, hot flashes, edema, palpitations, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, constipation, anorexia, indigestion, Blood in urine, low back pain, anemia, decreased bone marrow function, decreased white blood cells, thrombocytopenia, cough, shortness of breath, hair loss, increased sweating, injection site irritation, allergic reactions.
Compatible solutions for infusion injection:
Ringer’s solution, 0.9% sodium chloride solution, 5% dextrose, 1/3 – 2/3 serum.
Storage:
Store below 30ֹ C.
Do not freeze.
Keep out of the sight and reach of children.
Prior to injection, check the solution for colorlessness, transparency, and the absence of foreign particles.
