  • Therapeutic Use: 1.Erosive Esophagitis due to GERD: IV (alternative route): 20 mg every 12 hours.
    2. Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease: Treatment of GERD and esophagitis due to GERD.
    3.Heartburn (OTC only): Relief of heartburn, acid indigestion, and sour stomach.
    4.Pathological Hypersecretory Conditions: IV (alternative route): 20 mg every 12 hours; higher doses may be required.
    5.Peptic Ulcer Disease: Short-term treatment of active duodenal or peptic ulcers and maintenance therapy after healing.
Famotidine is a histamine H2 receptor antagonist used to treat duodenal ulcers, benign gastric ulcers, acid reflux, conditions where the stomach produces too much acid, GERD, and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome.

For Slow IV Injection or IV Infusion
IV Preparation: Dilute 20 mg to a total of 5 or 10 mL with NS, D5W, or LR.
IV Administration: Infuse at a rate no faster than 10 mg/min.

CNS effects include agitation, confusion, and delirium.
